MERCHANT BAR QUALITY is a low carbon hot rolled steel sometimes spoken of as “mild” steel which is easily welded, machined and formed but not particularly recommended for applications involving forging, heat treating, cold drawing or other operations where internal soundness or freedom from detrimental surface imperfections is of prime importance.

Chemistry is subject to ladle analysis only.
